SAILING IN CROATIA // 5 ISLANDS YOU MUST VISIT

Croatia is hands down one of the most beautiful countries. The stunning landscapes, aqua waters and incredible local food and wine tick all the boxes for the perfect vacation. If you plan to explore the Dalmatian Coast on a yacht be sure to check out these islands and towns on your travels.

1. MILNA

Located on the western side of the island of Braç, Milna is a small harbour town filled with incredible local restaurants and coffee shops. The harbour places itself between a number of deserted coves which you can moor your boat and enjoy lunch and a private swim.

2. PALMIZANA

The smallest island on the list, yet what it lacks in size it makes up for in amazing restaurants and beach clubs. If you want to escape the business of Hvar, Palmizana is only a short boat ride away.

Check out Laganini for dinner, the fish restaurant serves beautiful local dishes including seafood risotto, octopus stew, seared tuna and grilled squid. Vegetarians can also indulge on local handmade truffle pasta.

If setting off early to the next island doesn’t tempt you, stick around and spend the day at one of the island’s beach clubs. It’s quiet and less crowded than ones on the mainland in Hvar.

3. HVAR

Guaranteed to make the list, Hvar is an all round winner. A strong party scene with lively beach clubs and bars, incredible restaurants and stunning cultural landmarks. For food go to Black Pepper, nestled in one of Hvars many cute side streets. After dinner head to their bar Lola Bar a few metres away for mojitos and old school tunes.

For beaches in Hvar, check out Hula Hula Beach club or Bonj Les Bains, both a short 10 to 15 minute stroll from the harbour. In between these private beach clubs, there are plenty of public beaches and coves to snag your own little spot.

Don’t miss doing the hike to the Hvar fortress. It’s a non strenuous activity and is located a 10 minute walk from the harbour and worth it for incredible panoramic views of Hvar.

4. VIS

Vis is the perfect balance between the buzz of Hvar and the calm of Palmizana. Good value local restaurants are aplenty and the beach coves are stunning. If you want to explore more of the inland then hire mopeds for the day and venture beyond the harbour.

5. SOLTA

This sleepy island is the least touristy on the list. Come prepared with supplies as the nearest food store is a 30 minute hike uphill and inland. This island is very much a pitstop before returning back to Split, however don’t shun it yet. Like all other islands on the list, the local food and wine here is delicious and it won’t break the bank. You don’t even need to sail to deserted coves, they already exist by the harbour as the place is so quiet.

Thank you! We actually booked a private charter because our friend is a skipper. If you’re going to plan a sailing holiday a need a skipper to come with the boat I’d recommend checking out Med Sailors https://www.medsailors.com
I’ve never used them but sister has been on two sailing holidays with them x
