FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY IDEAS // 5 PAPER THEMED GIFT IDEAS FOR YEAR 1

photograph by Brook Rose Photography

Looking for inspiration on how you can celebrate the wonderful milestone of your first year of marriage? Then look no further than these cute ideas to celebrate a paper wedding anniversary. If you’re here it must be because it’s the very beginning of many more wedding anniversary celebrations. Why not try and stick to the theme each year and gift your partner something unique and special to each year of marriage?

DATE JAR

Write down a few fun date ideas on slips of paper and pop in the date jar. Each month (or week depending on how many ideas and calendar slots you have to fill) take a piece of paper out the jar at random and celebrate the year of paper! Mix them up with some simple dates, fancy dates, free dates and more extravagant dates.

SHARING A MEAL ON PAPER

If you plan on dining out for your anniversary dinner then make it a meal served on paper. Fish & Chips wrapped in paper, oysters by the sea served on paper plates from a beach shack or pretty much any street food vendor. The list is as endless as your culinary preferences.

PAPER TREASURE HUNT

Wake your partner up with a fun filled treasure hunt around the house leading to the anniversary card / paper gift. Of course each clue will be written on paper too!

PERSONALISED NOTEBOOK

Whether that be a diary embossed with your partners’ initials or a notebook with a sentimental nod to something from your wedding. A sketch of the city you got married in / had your first date in / proposal location could be the front cover of the book. Very cute!

PLANE TICKETS!

Lockdown and quarantine rules are easing and non-essential travel is being permitted across Europe and beyond. Give your loved one a plane ticket as their anniversary gift. Either as a huge surprise with a “pack your bags in the next 20 minutes” type gift or a more carefully planned holiday together with it being a mutual gift.
