IN FLIGHT BEAUTY REGIME // YOUR 5 STEP GUIDE FROM A FLIGHT ATTENDANT’S PERSPECTIVE

After years of being a flight attendant I feel like I’ve finally devised the perfect in flight skincare regime to protect me from the dehydrating environment of airplanes. I’ve tried and tested so many products on board and I’ve narrowed it down to five absolute essentials to keep your skin feeling moisturised yet non greasy and bright and your hair feeling soft and shiny whilst on board. Read on for my verdict of my favourite products that really do go the long haul with me.

Step 1: VICHY MINÉRAL 89

Vichy Minéral 89 Daily Booster this step 0 daily booster of mineralising water and hyaluronic acid is be applied to a clean face as a base for all other products. The Fortifying and plumping liquid creates a barrier on your skin and forms a clean, smooth base ready to apply other products. It feels light weight on your skin and is the perfect base for long lasting hydration. RRP £22 for 50ml at Vichy.

Step 2: REN FLASH HYDRO-BOOST

REN flash hydro-boost plumping emulsion Similar to Vichy Booster this cream also super charges the skin with moisture. The hyaluronic acid draws in the water which leaves your skin feeling hydrated for longer. Apply the cream with finger tips to your face and proceed to step 3. RRP £34 for 40ml at Ren

Step 3: LA ROCHE POSAY EAU THERAMLE

Once applied with finger tips, spritz the face with water and massage into the skin until fully absorbed. I use La Roche-Posay Eau Thermale spritz on flights which will hold the water on the skin keeping it hydrated and plump. Every few hours I top up with a few more spritzes of the refreshing mist. RRP £4 at Boots.

Step 4: PERCY & REED WONDER OVERNIGHT RECOVERY

Hair: something less obvious to most people but your hair suffers just as much as your skin on board. I usually leave a flight with my hair feeling like straw which is not ideal for the regular flier. Recently I’ve been using Percy & Reed Wonder Overnight Recovery balm on flights. I’ll apply a small amount to my ends and add the remaining amount to my roots and tie up in a bun whilst I work. The formula absorbs into the hair instantly which means it doesn’t look oily and slick. I’lll also apply the balm in my hair as a passenger and once I arrive in my destination I’ll wash it out for a sleek, incredible look that leaves my hair feeling nourished and moisturised. RRP £20 at Percy&Reed

Step 5: Water. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I drink tons of water on a flight. Hydrating your insides is just as important as it affects your appearance as well. I’ll aim to drink between 2 – 3 litres of water on board and always buy a large bottle of water before boarding any flight as a passenger.
