GIRLS’ WEEK AWAY AT GRAND CAYMAN’S LUXURY KIMPTON SEAFIRE RESORT

Having the luxury of staying in a hotel for longer than a weekend isn’t something I usually do. I’m more of a 48 hour kind of girl. So the thought of spending a whole week at the Kimpton Seafire Resort was an exciting prospect – getting to fully unpack, know my bearings of the hotel and really settle in for a girls’ week away on the island of Grand Cayman.

The Seafire Resort is located on Cayman’s tranquil Seven Mile Beach, which makes for the most idyllic and peaceful setting. The resort is big yet its intimate design makes it (even in high season) feel uncrowded and boutique like and oozes a Scandi chic meets luxe Caribbean vibe.

It’s very easy to slip into a routine at the Kimpton. Each morning started with coffee on the balcony of our junior suite. Followed by a workout or yoga session at their ocean view gym. Feel free to skip that part if full relaxation is your priority here and tuck right in to a glorious Kimpton breakfast.

Eggs every way imaginable, a cooked breakfast buffet station and a pastry and fruit lovers heaven will definitely get you on the right footing for the day.  Egg white veggie omelettes with a side of smoked salmon quickly became my favourite option. Dining outdoors on the garden and sea view terrace was a peaceful awakening to our day before activities began. If you happen to be here on a Sunday then the Kimpton brunch is a fabulous affair not to be missed. Oysters, sushi bar and champagne made for a decadent feast before lounging in a cabana by the pool for the rest of the afternoon.

The Kimpton has a way of making you feel like routine is luxurious, relaxing and absolutely how you want to spend your stay here.

Each afternoon ended up sunbathing by the main pool enjoying the worlds best piña colada (not an exaggeration). These drinks swirled with Cayman rum tasted like a salted caramel version of my favourite cocktail. The afternoon piña coladas effortlessly turned into enjoying the 5pm complimentary wine as we watched the sunset by the resort’s infinity pool. It was the part of the day where time seemed to stand still as the fiery sun dipped below the horizon.

If a sunset drink is your kind of thing then hope aboard the Red Sail Cayman catamaran cruise. The journey begins at the beach just before sunset and takes you out to sea. Order drinks from the bar which you can conveniently charge to your room. The uninterrupted view of the sunset is spectacular.

Arriving back to the mainland just in time for dinner and spoiled for choice with the selection of fabulous Kimpton restaurants. Our standout favourite was Avecita a Spanish fusion restaurant serving an array of tapas style dishes. We ordered oysters, chorizo, Manchego, anchovy toasts, tortilla and croquettes amongst other delicious plates. All washed down with a beautiful California Pinot noir. The Seafire resort has plenty restaurants to choose from – trendy, casual or elegant and at each one the food is unique but their common ground is that all the cuisine is simply stunning.

Of course no luxurious week away is complete without a pampering session and the Seafire spa is the perfect haven for this. Make sure you relax in the serene spa plunge pool before your treatment. I went for a 60 minute aromatherapy full body massage which was the perfect relaxing treat to complete my stay here.

The was the first time I’d stayed at a Kimpton hotel, and I feel like it’s just the start of a beautiful long-lasting friendship. Their design style, quality of food and drinks and attentive yet discreet service is absolutely what I look for when choosing a luxury hotel. This was the ultimate girlie week away and I now can’t wait to be a guest again at their other hotels across the world!
