MAKE A SPLASH

Whether it be a boat trip, water sports or a morning swim make sure you dip your toes in that water.

WINE TASTING

Turkey’s wine scene isn’t as widely known as other countries on the continent. However it’s something that should be on your radar. Turkey is the world’s fourth-leading producer of grapes for wine production so it’s no wonder their wine is good.

Just outside Bodrum, visit the Garova Vineyard to learn more about how the local wine is harvested. This new(ish) vineyard, 8 years old, came about when one harvest had a huge surplus of grapes tat meant wine could be sold beyond family and friends. The Garova vineyard is the smallest in Turkey but still produces 10,000 bottles a year.

ANCIENT RUINS

There has been life on Bodrum peninsula for over 7500 years. The region is bustling with ancient history. The Mausoleum in Halicarnassus is one of the Seven Wonders of The World. Bodrum is home to more “off the beaten track” ruins as well. The Pedasa Antique City lies a top of a mountain with the remains of an Acropolis older than Athens. It’s worth the hike and winding mountain drive for the spectacular views it offers.

SUNSETS

Conveniently located on the a western coastline, the sunsets are spectacular in Bodrum. With favourable weather most of the year and minimal cloud cover, it’s almost a guarantee you’ll experience great sunsets here. For a sunset dinner make reservations at Sait restaurant and request a table near the water’s edge. Alternatively Ibex Adventure Club organise sunset food and wine tastings up a mountain for that perfect, secluded experience.

TURKISH HAMMAM

Turkish Hammam rituals are world famous. Definitely try out the invigorating scrub and relaxing massage in its home country. Whilst the first hammams were discovered in Arabia it was the Turkish people who made it who made it well known. Most hotels with spas will offer the treatments. Starting with a clay mask and sauna time followed by a body scrub with a handwoven wash cloth known as a kese, a foam wash and a massage.
