ATHENS BEST 5 ECLECTIC BARS & ROOFTOP TERRACES

Couleur Locale

Couleur Locale is a spacious and chilled out bar (with on point interiors). The cocktails are good -the gin and tonics are generous sized. Two floors with stunning views of the Acropolis means a better chance of getting a seat with a view at sunset. Their house cocktail – a strawberry and basil gin and tonic is refreshing and sweet and definitely worth an order. Like any rooftop bars with a view get there early enough to guarantee a table at sunset.

A FOR ATHENS

Quite possibly the most popular bar in Athens. With astounding views there isn’t much difference in it to the others. Whilst it is absolutely worth a visit it is incredibly busy so it’s definitely worth getting to the bar very early to get a seat with a view.

MS Rooftop

Right next door to Athens’ most popular rooftop bar (see above), MS Rooftop Bar has equally as good views. A smaller terrace but also not as busy. The Nostalgia cocktail – gin, sandalwood and pineapple cocktail is delicious! As is the rum based pineapple juice and rosemary served with a smoked salt laced glass. Interesting cocktails with that breathtaking view.

Noel

Noel is not a rooftop bar, but an absolute must visit. This Christmas themed bar with the tagline – it’s Christmas all year round, is a fun and upbeat bar yet remains as elegant as their drinks list. A number of Christmas inspired cocktails fill up their menu, think cardamon, anise and cinnamon spicing up the drinks. They also have an impressive list of spirits on their menu including Edinburgh Gin, Monkey 47 gin and the ever so smooth Appleton 12 year rum.

The Clumsies

The Clumsies was voted one of the best 50 bars in the world. The bar is discreet from the street yet when you step inside it’s a funky upbeat bar home to a huge array of spirits from around the world and a creative cocktail list. Try the Gin, vermouth and rosehip cocktail, a smooth yet ever so slightly bitter drink with the odd hint of smokey-ness.
